CHELSEA CHASE HIGUAIN, MOURINHO WANTS VAN PERSIE AND CITY GO FOR COENTRÃO

With the January transfer window almost upon us, the rumour mill has already in full swing, linking a whole host of players to a whole host of clubs. Here are some of the stand-out ones from the past few days;

It seems the slightly ridiculous rumour that Real Madrid are keen to bring ageing Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard to the Bernabeu may have a few more column inches left in it yet, Marca among others seem to be persisting in that one.

Also linked with Mourinho’s side over the weekend was Arsenal’s Robin van Persie. That one is almost as doubtful.

One player that could be arriving in the capital is Mario Fernandes however. The 21-year-old Gremio defender is rumoured to be close to signing a deal that will bring him to Spain in January according to reports in both the Spanish and Brazilian press.

Portuguese international Fábio Coentrão is still high on the agenda of Premier League leaders Manchester City according to reports.

A number of papers are still running with the story of Chelsea’s impending €35 million swoop for Gonzalo Higuain.

Juventus are currently monitoring the situation of Raul Albiol.

Florent Malouda is being lined up by Atletico Madrid as a replacement for ex-Arsenal star Jose Antonio Reyes, who is interesting Sevilla.

The Andalusian club are also close to bringing former Barcelona player Giovanni Dos Santos‘ unhappy stay at Tottenham to an end.

Rennes midfield sensation Yann M’Vila could be on his was to the Camp Nou if stories in both French and Catalan papers are to be believed. The French international is the hottest thing in Ligue 1 this season and has grabbed the attention of many top clubs, including Barcelona.

One deal that looks to be heading for trouble is Gregory Van der Wiel‘s proposed switch from Ajax to Valencia, as the Dutch club criticise the offer received form los che as ‘disrespectful’.

And finally, some more bad news for fans of Villarreal who have surely already had their fair share of mis-fortune this season.

With the club hovering dangerously close to the relegation trap door, reports today suggest their talismanic Brazilian striker, Nilmar could be jumping ship in January and heading over to Italy to sign for Luis Enrique’s Roma.
