PREMIER LEAGUE CLUBS CHASE BARCELONA COACH

Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City are among several clubs chasing the services of one of the hottest young coaches in Spanish football according to reports today.

Oscar Garcia’s influence as coach of Barcelona’s Juvenil A side this season has already seen him enter the radar of many of Europe’s top clubs, and his impressive work within Barça’s youth system have led many to suggest he could have a successful coaching career ahead of him.

City fans will already be familiar with Garcia as his side have dominated the flagship NextGen youth tournament this year, beating the blues 2-1 in Manchester before trouncing them 4-1 in the return leg.

They have also beaten Celtic’s youngsters in two games this season.

Garcia spent the majority of his 14-year playing career at the famous club and featured under Johan Cruyff, Luis van Gaal and Bobby Robson, whom he cites as major influences in his growing success as a coach.

He spent one year with the Catalan national side as assistant to his former mentor Cruyff, before joining the coaching staff at the Camp Nou in 2010.

Garcia recently advised Barça’s director of football Andoni Zubizaretta, that he was committed to the club until the end of the season, but reports in Spain suggest his former team-mate would not block any move if the coach was offered a lucrative deal elsewhere.

Garcia has also been linked to the vacant role at Racing Santander, who relieved Hector Cuper of his duties earlier this week.
