Fernando Llorente is a £20 million target for Liverpool’s Kenny Dalglish according to continuing reports in English Sunday newspaper, The People.

The paper suggest Dalglish is about to swoop as the 6′ 5″ forward has become disillusioned with the club following an indifferent start to the season under eccentric coach, Marcelo ‘el loco’ Bielsa.

However, it seems the basis of these claims are vague to say the least.

The tabloid point to the fact that Liverpool already have some Spanish players at the club and that their big-money signing Andy Carroll has flopped – not really the strongest suggestion of an impending move for the much lauded Llorente, who has been at the club since he was 11-years-old.

In truth, Athletic fans have little to worry about.

The club are renowned for a distinct lack of activity during the mid-season transfer window, and are also loath to let their talismanic striker go.

in all honesty id love to say we should buy benzema, gotze, robben etc but it wont happen. i really think the following is realistic and would dramatically improve the team.
buy: banega/manuel fernandes/m’vila/javi martinez, ben arfa/giovani dos santos, perotti, loic remy, luuk de jong/van wolfswinkel.
sell: aurelio, spearing, kuyt, maxi, downing, carroll, cole.
thats 5 in and 7 out making the squad slightly smaller but more quality!
i’d love for liverpool not to have sold meireles or loaned aqua out but that was their mistake and cant be undone. sterling, suso, silva, morgan, robinson, adorjan and coady could quite easily fill in on the bench from time to time if they have to, they need chances anyway! of course im just silly and dalglish is the manager who knows much more than me. just because hes a manager it doesnt mean i cant tell a good player when i see one.

like dalglish, rafa really does love liverpool and the fans but he would have spent the money much better and he is much better tactically so i wish we could have him back. none of his great youngsters signings are getting chances either eg pacheco, suso, silva. and we sold mavinga and others since rafa left!!!!!!

If we get f. Llorente we can play with Carroll and llorente up front and Suarez on the right coz he can play there . Bellemy/ downing/maxi on the left and gerrad and lucas when fit / hendo in midfield . With two big strikers up front and surez gerrard etc behid them would be deadly . Also Carroll and llorente would have each other for support. Llorente is skillful as well as good in the air and if the ball falls on Carrolls left peg he has a powerful strike on him also good in the air.

If this transfer is to help Carroll in seeing the kind of movement and timing he should be making inside the box then it’s a good move. Llorente’s goal return in the past couple of seasons has been ok.
