Celtic are hopeful they can sign Real Betis striker Jorge Molina during the summer, after agent Domingo Sevilliano claimed a last-minute move for the player was shunned by the Spanish club.

Neil Lennon has been linked with the 29-year-old for a number of months and the Celtic Park club had an offer for Molina turned down earlier this week.

However Sevilliano claims the Glasgow giants approached the la liga side with an improved offer on Monday, which was again rebuffed.

The agent told Scottish newspaper The Daily Record: “On Monday, Celtic  increased the money and there were negotiations.

“Their offer was interesting to Jorge, but it wasn’t up to the player. It was down to Betis wanting more money.”

Celtic will now go back for Molina during the summer as Lennon looks to add some extra firepower to his squad.
