PIQUE LINKED WITH OLD TRAFFORD RETURN

Manchester United could be set to bring Gerard Pique back to Old Trafford, according to English media reports.

Sir Alex Ferguson has made Pique his number one target and is ready to make a move for the out-of-sorts defender during the summer say The Metro.

Pique has had an alarming drop in form this season and the newspaper claim Pep Guardiola could be ready to make some wholesale changes during the summer.

The 25-year-old could well be one of the big-name players to suffer in the wake of a frustrating la liga campaign for the Catalan giants which has seen them drop 13 points behind leaders Real Madrid, and the newspaper claim Chelsea are also monitoring the player’s situation.

United have suffered a number of injuries this season with Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand and Phil Jones all spending lengthy spells in the stands.

Pique joined United from Barcelona Old Trafford in 2004 before returning to the Camp Nou in 2008.
