Chelsea plot La Liga summer spending spree

Chelsea could be set to launch a sensational transfer raid on Real Madrid in an effort to secure the services of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuain say British newspaper, the Daily Telegraph.

Stamford Bridge officials are looking through a number of attacking options in a bid to overhaul the Chelsea squad claim the reports, with Ronaldo and Higuain potentially top of their list.

The newspaper suggest Chelsea are considering an offer in the region of €100 million for the duo, but will turn their attentions to Napoli pair Edinson Cavani and Ezquiel Lavezzi should any deal with the current Spanish league leaders fail to materialise.

Didier Drogba, Florent Malouda and Salomon Kalou are all set to leave the blues during the summer and some sources also suggest Daniel Sturridge could join them, as Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich looks for a clear-out following a disappointing domestic season for the London club.

Higuain has long-been linked with a move to England but any potential move for Ronaldo would ultimately rest on Chelsea achieving Champions League qualification and their ability to bring a big-name manager to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
