MALAGA v SPORTING

Javier Clemente’s men have won four of their last six games and have dragged themselves back from the brink with some spirited performances; not least the 3-0 victory over Espanyol in Barcelona two weeks ago. It may prove too little, too late however, as they MUST win at fourth-placed Malaga and hope Rayo and Zaragoza BOTH lose. It is an outside chance for Clemente and his his team and one that seems highly unlikely against a side who know victory will secure a place in the lucrative Uefa Champions League next season.

Manuel Pellegrini’s Malaga have been the most consitent side among those fighting for la liga’s fourth spot and were finally looking to have gelled after a fairly underwhelming first half to the season. However just one victory in their past six matches has seen them still trying to limp over the final hurdle today.

Despite the hosts poor form, they should prove too strong for the Asturians and their will be joyful scenes at La Romareda when the referee brings proceedings to close.

Prediction: Malaga 2-1 Sporting
