Dani Alves to miss Copa final after breaking collar bone

Barcelona full back Dani Alves has broken his collar bone and will operated on this evening according to the clubs official website.

The 29-year-old Brazilian international sustained the injury during a club training session today and will now miss the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Club at the Vicente Calderon on 25 May.

After further examination of the injury it was decided that Alves would undergoe surgery tonighty at the Hospital de Barcelona. The operation will be performed by Doctor Carles Torrens at 2000CET, after which Dr Torrens and colleague Dr Ricard Pruna will hold a press conference to give an updated medical report on the player.

The former Sevilla player has played 46 games for Pep Guardiola’s side this season and his absence will be a major blow for both his team and coacha as they attempt to end the season on  a high after the disappointment of losing their la liga title  to bitter rivals Real Madrid.
