ARSENAL NAME VAN PERSIE PRICE AS REAL MADRID AND BARCELONA SWOOP IN

Catalan football daily Sport have today made a sensational claim that Arsenal will demand a meager 25 million Euros for star striker Robin Van Persie this summer.

Sport says Arsenal will resist releasing the Dutchman for any less, but in doing so are playing with a ‘double-edged sword‘ with the player’s contract only running until June 2013. Should Arsenal fail to sell Van Persie this summer they will lose out on any potential compensation under his current deal.

Sport claim Real Madrid are particularly keen on the Dutchman, with the La Liga leaders apparently still unsatisfied with their current front line. Speculation is fueled by comments from RVP’s agent Kees Vos, who yesterday told Sport that Van Persie will wait until the end of the season to speak with Arsenal about his plans.

Finally, Sport also claim Arsenal are already looking at potential replacements for Van Persie in anticipation of his departure. Borussia Dortmund’s Mario Götze is one such example, along with Cologne’s Lukas Podolski who has already been linked with the London outfit in the past.
