MAN UNITED SET TO MISS OUT ON SPANISH STAR

Manchester United look set to miss out on the signature of target Jordi Alba after reports in today’s Spanish press claim the player is ready to extend his stay at Valencia.

Sir Alex Ferguson was said to be interested in bringing the Spain international to Old Trafford and it was believed United felt confident of securing his services, despite strong interest from Barcelona.

However the news that the 22-year-old seems ready to commit his long term future to Los Che could end the English champions interest in the player.

An InterStar Deporte spokesperson told Superdeporte “We are making progress. Talks are heading in the right direction”.

The progress of those talks is something that will come as a huge relief to all at the Mestalla.

The versatile full back has been impressing in La Liga this season, and is someone who Unai Emery has highlighted as integral to building a squad that can challenge La Liga’s giants in the near future.

And the fact that Alba is ready to buy into that Valencia project for the foreseeable future merely proves that there is genuine belief by all that it is a mission that isn’t impossible.

While in recent times Valencia have had to sell star players in David Villa, David Silva, and Juan Mata to balance the books, for the first time in a while;  Los Che look financially stable.

United meanwhile may also be interested in another Valencia player after reports today claim the Old Trafford outfit have been monitoring French international, Adil Rami.
