Both Kenny Dalglish and Arsene Wenger are said to be keen on the Ivory Coast international and have sent scouts from Anfield and the Emirates to Russia to watch the 24-year-old play for his club, CSKA Moscow.
Arsenal made contact with the player last year with a view to bringing him to the Premier League but were forced to look elsewhere after the deal ran into problems: “Before I came to Moscow, they were interested in me,” Doumbia said, ” However, with work permit problems it was complicated.”
Doumbia has scored 24 goals in 30 games for CSKA and is currently one of the hottest prospects in the Russian Premier Division, with a host of other big-name clubs being linked to the player.
Reports suggest the player would prefer a move to England however, with Arsenal a likely destination ahead of Liverpool.
