UNITED EYEING SPANISH STARLET

Manchester United are monitoring the current situation of Spanish international Jordi Alba, as contract talks stall between the player and Valencia.

Sir Alex Ferguson has long been linked with the Catalan left-back and is planning a summer swoop to bring the player to Old Trafford, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.

United are desperately short on left-sided cover and Alba, who can also play in midfield, is seen as the perfect player for Old Trafford.

Reports from Spain claim the youngster has recently entered into contract negotiations with Valencia but United are monitoring the talks with interest and Ferguson has not given up hope that he can bring the much sought-after player to Old Trafford
